'nuances', I most probably would have felt the frustrations expressed by those who aren't used to purchasing a piece of car audio equipment which has a learning curve due to the enormous number of features and settings this one does - and yeah, I'll admit it. If you've read about the unit, you already know the features it sports. My son-in-law was shopping around for a replacement stereo for his Nissan Maxima and was getting frustrated and tired due to the numbers of stereos available for every budget. After comparison shopping, for about a week, a friend of mine who installs car audio, alarm systems, graphics, window tint, etc. Due to my son-in-law's work schedule, we couldn't install it until today.

ahem. ;>)Anyway, I just sorta guided him through the sale ads from the various usual suspects (Fry's Electronics, Best Buy, eBay, etc). calls me to see if we had bought anything yet because he had just gotten a DEH-5000UB in a trade he made for some side work. Take the time to learn how to make it sound the way you want it to and it will surpass your expectations.

I discovered this unit by complete accident. That gave me 6 days to research and learn about this unit and what I should expect after installation. This worked in the stereo's favor in that had I been able to install it having not learned about its. the joystick control is a bit of a chore to use proficiently, but the outstanding quality of sound and multitude of features of this thing far, far outweigh that single annoyance. I forgot to mention it was still sealed in its original box. Bring a dose of patience and an understanding that once you have familiarized yourself with this unit, you will be most pleased with your decision to purchase it. He recruited me about two weeks ago to help him purchase a head unit, amp and speakers - he had already bought the sub which is no big surprise considering he's 22.

Coach SteveChandler, AZPS: I can't express enough the importance of quality speakers to play this stereo through. He told me it was a pretty decent unit, how much it retails for and that I could have it for $100.00 US. Trusting him completely when it comes to car audio, I told him I'd take it. And while there's no way to adequately "describe" the sound it produces, I can tell you I've owned a lot of vehicles and have purchased/installed even more aftermarket audio systems for those cars and this one ranks right up there with some of the best. If you don't have speakers that have a full spectrum range, you are doing yourself and the DEH-5000UB a disservice.

I guess most iPod interfaces are really laggy and this one is no exception. It takes forever to change songs, its probably better to connect via 3.5mm audio cable and control the songs from your ipod/iphone. I like how there isnt that many visible buttons but it makes it very hard to use. If i wasnt so lazy i would have returned this.

I bought the Pioneer DEH-P5000UB For the best price around here on amazon and it is a really nice Radio Since it can use CD/MP3/WMA/iTunes AAC/WAV Receiver I Love it. You may need to get use to use the control it is a lot safer because it is a little hard to don't press another button if you using the dash round button.

This radio is excellent and I'd recommend it to anyone. Someone stole one of these out of my car, and did I look for anything different. Nope. The radio function can be slightly confusing, but other than that, this is about the best receiver for the bucks out there. And I spent years selling this stuff for a living.

This stereo is incredible especially for the price.It works with ipods/mp3 players or flash drive.The power is awsome. This weekend i am installing the fourth one in the family.
